A NEW SLANT ON SOME OLD PHOTOS
I recently, literally, put a new slant on some old photos.
They won't win any prizes but when we look at the from an unusaul point of view and they become more interesting.
Look at how little rubber is in contact with the road when the are cornering at speed.
They must be mad!
Some look quite comical and look as if the rider is on some sort of funfair ride.
How can we change other photos to give us a different perspective?
Food for thought ....
I call this one "Down the Mineshaft"
"Things are looking up"
"Down hill rider"
Let me know what you think.
Send some of your photos to me to be judged

AN AMAZING PHOTO
I have heard of motor cycle racers touching the track with theis arms, but I have never witnessed it.
Anthony Shelley With Sparks Flying by Cyril Furman
I spoke to Anthony Shelley after the race.
There is titanium in the pad of his sleeve.
This causes the sparks.
Riders may NOT have titanium in their knee pads as this would endanger trailing bikes.

FULL MOON
I took this photo just 2 days before full moon in July
Full Moon by Cyril Furman
I was returning from motocross at about 4.30 PM.
I saw the moon and the pilons.
It took some time before I realised that there was a photo.
I turned around and drove back.
I hauled out my camera and walked a considerable distance in the veld.
This was one of the first five shots that I took.
I moved forewards, backwards, left and right to position the moon in relation to the pilon.
I used almost my full 600mm zoom as the pilon was quite far away.
I used 1/320 of a second @ f8 exposure and ISO 100.
I got full of blackjacks but I got the photo.
Always try and fill the frame.

Some Great Camera Club Photos at the 12th Passion for Speed
I attended to the 12th passion for speed earlier in February 2013.
Some of the old cars dropped oil on the track.
Dry cement was used to blot up the oil.
The two following photos show some effects.
Blue Alfa Romeo by Cyril Furman
This was the first car through.
Red Alfa Romeo in the Dust by Cyril Furman
This was one of the later cars through and can also be seen on the Home Page of www.photojudges.com
I saw another Alfa Romeo. This time a 1933 Alpha Romeo Monza

Later in the day I cought this 1970 Mercury Cougar coming down the short straight on the rumble strip.

Another oldie was the 1957 Plymouth Fury going through a corner.

COPYRIGHT AND WATERMARK YOUR PHOTOS
More and more good photos are being copied and sold by theives.
Yesterday I came accross a person who wanted to know how to sue someone in China who was selling his photos in an image bank in China.
There are a number of things that we can do to protect our work.
Note the very large watermark and additional copyright informantion.
This is automatically added to the gallery photos on the website.
The whole idea is to make your photos worthless to any theives.
I have removed a number of photos from Flickr as they were too large and had no copyright or watermarks.
Be aware of how you post any photos on the net and the terms and conditions of the website.
Please let me know if this blog is useful to you.

- Add a watemark in a part of the photo where it is difficult to remove or make it very large. The photo "In the dust" has a watermark just under the orange part of the saddle.
Koi fish by Cyril Furman
- Add your copyright in terms of thr Berne Convention. it must read © the year 2013 and your name Cyril Furman.
- Add the copyright in a place where it is difficult to crop it off as in the top photo.
- Reduce the size of the file to less than 200 KB. The photo "Koi fish" is just 21.1 KB.
